Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the start of the I LOVE NY Summer of Hip Hop, a statewide commemoration of the genre’s 50th anniversary on August 11, 2023. Hosted in partnership with renowned cultural organizations including Lincoln Center and The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, the I LOVE NY Summer of Hip Hop will feature a line-up of concerts, exhibitions, performances 50 Years of Atlanta Hip Hop; Reduction Team and $869,675 to staff the program. Dance camp for ages 5 to 11 includes classes in ballet, jazz, and hip-hop, collaborative challenges, arts and crafts. Each week ends with the creation of a dance music video to share. Six one-week sessions, each with a theme: imaginary animals, frozen kingdom, superheroes, under the big top - circus!, ticket to broadway, and outer space.
